Sapo Engineering Consultants is a multi-faceted civil/structural engineering firm, providing services in the petrochemical, heavy industrial, commercial and residential markets.


We handle projects from $5000 to $5 million. These include small retrofits and upgrades for equipment supports in refineries, to full scale EPC services in collaboration with other firms.

  • ​Program management of greenfield and brownfield projects for petrochemical facilities
  • Scheduling, estimating and contracts management
  • Review of vendor information and bids (commercial and technical), and vendor selection
  • Structural analysis and design of foundations for various petrochemical structures: vertical vessels, horizontal vessels, coolers and heat exchangers in high wind and seismic zones
  • Structural analysis and design of piperacks and other process structures in steel
  • Design of connections (moment and shear) for steel structures and industrial warehouses using design software, hand calculations and AISC codes (steel manuals and design guides)
  • Stress analysis of support structures for subsea equipment, using classical hand stress analysis and design software
  • Design of different foundation types: precast and auger bored piles, raft foundations, strip foundations and isolated pad footings, using ACI codes or British Standard Codes of Practice
  • Structural analysis and design of multi-storey buildings using traditional methods and hand calculations (moment distribution, wind analysis etc.)
  • Design of concrete superstructures (concrete columns, solid suspended slabs, hollow pot slabs, and waffle mould slabs)
  • Wide experience in reading and understanding architectural drawings, arranging live and dead loads, and locating columns to produce open spaces and efficient structural systems
